The Dress
Absolutely beautiful antique lace, lace-up fishtail dress and (unworn) veil bought from Hobnob Bridal in Perth.
It's a size 8 but was taken in around the hips so is more likely to fit girls who usually wear size 6-8 rather than 8-10.
I had a Destination Wedding in Thailand and, despite the silky lining and antique French lace overlay, it was lightweight and really comfortable. This would make it perfect for a Summer wedding!
I'm moving overseas and, unfortunately, I just cannot take it with me.
Top half of the dress:
The detail on the neckline is gorgeous with pearl beading and sequins highlighting the deep V neck.
The lace has silver piping sewn throughout.
The straps are dainty and have some beaded detailing but are comfortable and soft. I was keen to avoid wearing a strapless dress because I don't have a big bust (10C) and didn't want to spend the day pulling the dress up. These straps were so perfect - I got all the support I needed and didn't have to think about popping out or readjusting. I felt so happy and comfortable the whole time and the compliments I still get about the style are fantastic.
There is some boning to give the bodice structure but it is not rigid - I was able to sit down etc no problem.
I had the back of the dress lowered and the straps lengthened - the effect from the back is really gorgeous and flattering. The back is lace up.
Bottom half of the dress:
I'm 180cm, I wore beaded sandals (beach!), and it touched the floor so shorter ladies would easily be able to wear it with heels or have the length taken up.
It has a "puddle train" (approx. 1m) which is sheer lace - the under-layer finishes at the floor.
The skirt is fitted to the knee, then flares out into a modest fishtail, but still leaves enough wiggle room to dance and have fun!
The veil:
45 inches (fingertip length). Ivory tulle with champagne lace embroidery at the edges.
After falling in love with the veil, whilst trying on my dress, I GENUINELY forgot all about it on the big day haha! I reached my Hubby at the end of the aisle and that was when I realised - little late :P As such the veil is unworn but it goes perfectly with the dress and is stored in the same box.
I had the dress dry cleaned and both the dress and veil stored in a Prestige Preservation MuseumStyle™ storage box at Dynasty Dry Cleaners in Perth so you can rest assured that they are protected and guaranteed against oxidation or 'yellowing' in the run up to your big day. :)
The dress was $2,480 and the veil $320 (I know - HOW did I forget to wear it?!) but, given that they are stored in a box together, they are being sold together.
Any questions please do get in touch and I'd be happy to help!
Happy dress hunting, ladies. :) xx
The back was lowered and the straps adjusted accordingly.
